The treatment of Canadian veteran's is worse than some of the countries we are trying to free. I know that above statement sounds strong, but, it is the truth.

The treatment of our veterans from Veterans Affairs Canada and the Canadian Government is so poor that many have committed suicide!  In fact, I personally have 4 friends that have made this choice in the past two years.

On Friday, October 30, 2009 W-5 a national news program on CBC reported on this very fact in a documentary titled “Broken Heroes.” In this report they say that the suicide rate in the Canadian Forces is about 16 per year. That means there have been more suicides since the start of the war in Afghanistan than those that have been killed in action by the Taliban and road side bombs. (This figure does not include our veterans and those that serve in the reserve componet.)

I know the rates of suicide amongst our veterans is much higher than that of those that are serving presently, and is specifically because of the treatment they get by one of the biggest and most un-accountable bureaucracies in Canada, and no I am not talking about Revenue Canada, but instead Veterans Affairs Canada.

VeteransofCanada.ca also lobby's for our Canadian Heroes. Our present campaign is to have the Veterans Ombudsman report to Parliament and not to the problem – the Minister of Veterans Affairs.  These efforts cost money and that is why we need your help and support.
