VeteransofCanada.ca is committed to protecting your rights to privacy. The following describes how the personal information we collect from you in connection with our business relationship will be handled, and your rights to limit use of that information. This policy applies to VeteransofCanada.ca and its subsidiary, VeteransduCanada.ca. This policy also applies to any person providing services on our behalf.
VeteransofCanada.ca collects personal information by reasonable, lawfully permitted means and we limit the collection, use and disclosure of personal information to that which is reasonably necessary for the purposes identified. VeteransofCanada.ca will not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with your consent or as required by law. We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill those purposes or as required by law.
We reserve the right to revise this policy from time to time, as we further study privacy issues and as the laws and practices evolve; and will publish revisions at our earliest reasonable convenience.
In order to provide high quality services, VeteransofCanada.ca collects a range of personal information. We may collect personal information which we require in order to administer our veteran memberships, supporter memberships, directory and community. These requests may include name, telephone, fax, email address or other information that may be required. This information is used for:
- Establishing and administering VeteransofCanada.ca Veteran Memberships
- Establishing and administering VeteransofCanada.ca Corporate Supporting Memberships.
- Establishing and administering VeteransofCanada.ca Business Development Representative Agreements
- Establishing and administering our VeteransofCanada.ca Business Directory and Veterans Community.
- Providing ongoing service to Veteran Members, Corporate Supporting Members, Business Development Representative and Partners of VeteransofCanada.ca
To help serve you better, we may disclose the information we collect to certain third parties including:
- Printers of Membership Cards for VeteransofCanada.ca
- Webdesigner and Wen Hosting providing services to VeteransofCanada.ca
We may also disclose your personal information:
- When permitted or required by law
- In a medical emergency
- To a public authority if, in our reasonable judgment, there appears to be an imminent danger which could be avoided by disclosing the information.
Consistent with privacy principles and applicable legislation, and where reasonably possible VeteransofCanada.ca only collects, uses or discloses personal information with the express consent from the individual. Under the applicable principles and legislation, consent may be obtained in writing or orally, expressly, impliedly or by not opting out.
VeteransofCanada.ca is careful to select a fair and reasonable form for the consent required in the circumstances.
By submitting your registration, you consent to supply personal information as described above. You further consent to the use of that personal information to administer, implement and perform our services as they relate to your account with us. In certain limited circumstances consistent with law and regulation (e.g., legal, medical, or security reasons) personal information can be collected, used, or disclosed without your knowledge or consent.
VeteransofCanada.ca will make every reasonable effort to ensure that the personal information we obtain from you will be maintained as accurately and completely as necessary for its purpose. Your personal information will be verified in our records and updated if necessary each time you notify us of a change, and as practical during the course of our relationship with you. It is your responsibility to notify us immediately of any change in personal information which you have previously supplied to us.
VeteransofCanada.ca will take appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access or disclosure, improper use, alteration or destruction. We employ physical, technological and administrative safeguards.
VeteransofCanada.ca maintains complete records of the storage locations of personal information, both paper and electronic.
Upon your written and reasonable request, your personal information will be erased from our records. Removal of your personal information from our records may affect our ability to provide you with our services.
Personal information that is no longer necessary or relevant for the identified purposes or required to be retained by law will be destroyed, erased or made anonymous or unidentifiable. When seven (7) years have elapsed after the last time you registered with us, all personal information pertaining to you and your employees, if applicable, will be permanently erased from our records unless we have reason to believe it necessary to retain your records for a longer period of time.
You can request additional information or request access to your personal information maintained by VeteransofCanada.ca at any time. We will respond to your request within 45 days. There may be a small charge for each request. If charges apply, we will notify you in writing and seek your approval of the charges prior to processing your request.

VeteransofCanada.ca has tried to make these principles and practices relating to the management of your personal information easily available and understandable to you, to our employees and to any other party permitted to obtain or use this information.
